Spotlight on volunteering

Jenni volunteers as a Health Champion. As Covid restrictions ease we are looking forward to getting back out into the community and speaking to local residents again.
Jenni volunteers at Healthwatch

Why do you volunteer at Healthwatch?

Jenni is a retired social worker and has worked for several different London boroughs, based both in hospitals and in local social services offices.  She has volunteered with different organisations since she was a teenager.

She told us that being a volunteer with Healthwatch gives her opportunities to do what she's always enjoyed doing - talking with people about their experiences and hearing their views.

I find it really interesting to consider different aspects of health provision. Most recently, I did some pharmacy visits which really made me think about how difficult it can be for people to get in and out of shops and services. I was also able to experience how staff interact with customers, and how helpful and welcoming they are.
