Meet Seraphine

Seraphine joined Healthwatch Islington as a volunteer during the pandemic

As a volunteer for Healthwatch, Seraphine shows people how to get the most out of their devices so they can get online and access services.

Seraphine came to us during the pandemic to volunteer as a Digital Champion. To start with she supported learners remotely - over the phone and on Zoom. Providing support remotely presented a unique set of challenges that could be very satisfying to overcome. However, for the last year, she has very much enjoyed supporting residents in person at our face-to-face digital support sessions.

We asked her what she liked about volunteering here:

Volunteering helps me to put things in perspective, improve my organisation, and panic less! It’s a real team effort and together we achieve good outcomes. For example, one learner was anxious and convinced she couldn’t do online shopping but by the end of the session she’d bought herself a gown from M&S.
