Celebrating our LGBTQI+ communities

We'll keep working to make health and care services more inclusive
People at a Pride celebration

We are very proud to have worked with our colleagues at Islington Mind this year on promotion of the LGBTQI+ toolkit for challenging inequalities. Islington Mind is recognised as a leading provider of LGBTQI+ inclusive mental health care in London. Through their flagship Outcome Project and initiatives like Freedom From Fear to Love they support the local LGBTQI+ community, offering therapeutic groups, one-to-one support, a suicide prevention clinic, and co-produced services for LGBTQI+ asylum seekers.

This Pride month, we celebrate our LGBTQI+ communities and stand in solidarity with them. We urge sector colleagues to use the toolkit to build services that are genuinely accessible and empowering to LGBTQI+ clients.

A toolkit to help commissioners design inclusive services

The Challenging Inequalities Self-Assessment Toolkit contains evidence and expertise from our various partners on how those involved in mental health in Islington can work together to address the inequalities that we know continue to exist in service delivery.

This first edition of the toolkit focused on race and ethnicity. Islington Mind published a second chapter in 2024 to support organisations to increase access and inclusivity for the LGBTQI+ community, guided by specialist services mostly operating in London.
