Cancer care and Covid-19

This event is taking place online
Tuesday 25th August, 2020 - 10:30 to 12:00

About this event

Accessing health services is just as important and possible as we live through the COVID-19 pandemic. Treating serious conditions such as cancer can be much more successful if there is early diagnosis. Local GPs are ready to speak anyone with worrying symptoms which may indicate cancer and they can make appropriate referrals for tests if necessary.

The North Central London Cancer Alliance has teamed up with Healthwatch Islington and the North Central London Clinical Commissioning Group to provide local residents with key information on:

  • Spotting changes in your body that should be investigated
  • How diagnostic tests, surgery and treatment for cancer are continuing
  • Safety measures that hospitals have put in place for infection control measures to keep staff and patients safe
  • Screening for breast, colorectal or cervical cancers. Invitations for these screening services have restarted and appointments are being carried out safely.

The panel, who will take questions, includes Anant Patel, Consultant Respiratory Physician at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and Chetan Bhan, Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon, Whittington Health NHS Trust.
