You can talk to us if you need more information. If you would like someone to help you during the complaints process itself, or make a complaint on your behalf, we can also put you in touch with advocacy services.
What is Healthwatch?
Healthwatch Islington is part of a national network of 148 local Healthwatch organisations.
Our job is to make sure that the voices of local people - the people who actually use health and social care services - are heard and listened to, when decisions about health and social care provision are made.
This national network is led by Healthwatch England, who made this video. The transcript is below.
A Healthwatch Video in British Sign Language with subtitles is available here.
From Clinical Commissioning Groups to Health and Wellbeing Boards to NHS England, it is difficult to keep track of what the different structures do, how they all work together, and where Healthwatch Islington fits in. This video from the King's Fund offers the best overview that we've seen. A captioned version is available here.
For a bit more detail A Guided Tour of the New NHS, produced by the All Party Parliamentary Health Group, is an excellent resource. All the different bodies in the new NHS are explained concisely, a page for each. This guide is the one MPs (Members of Parliament) refer to when they want to understand the health system.
