Gathering your views

We tell services about your experiences and hold them to account. Your feedback also helps us to decide what issues we will prioritise in any given year.

You can give us your views on local services via our webform, or by emailing us. Our volunteers also visit local venues, such as libraries and hospitals, to gather people's experiences of health and social care.

We also go out and speak to local groups to learn about the health and care needs of particular communities within the borough. Finally, we undertake targeted work to explore in-depth experiences of specific services.
 

How do we share your feedback locally?

  • We share individual comments anonymously with the people responsible for health and care services, for example Islington Council, or Islington Clinical Commissioning Group.
  • We share relevant data with the Care Quality Commission, who regulate and inspect health and social care services in Islington.
  • With our more targeted work on specific services (including our mystery shopping and our Enter and View visits) we write reports with recommendations for improvements. These are submitted to service providers, commissioners and regulators. By law, these decision makers have to listen and respond to what Healthwatch Islington has to say. 

How do we share your feedback nationally?

Individual comments on specific services are added to a national database. Healthwatch England use this data to build a national picture of the issues that matter most to consumers and users of health and care services. They use this evidence to influence those who plan and run services at a national level. You can learn more about how Healthwatch England uses its influence here.
